Four of us did a Big Day in Albemarle County May 4. We finished with
110 species, highlights of which were 3 species of owl seen, namely
Barn, Barred and Screech, Herring Gull (don't laugh, a great bird in
this county), Lesser Scaup at Old Trail pond, Willow Flycatcher
(early?), a displaying Horned Lark and several Am. Pipits. Migrants
warblers were scarce, possibly pushed out by the cold front which
pushed through May 3. My thanks to Rob Capon for organizing and
driving, Gretchen Gehrett for recording, and Amy Gilmer for good
spotting and hearing. Stauffer Miller
