Those interested in the workshop, that Dot Field, of Natural Heritage and I
are conducting, should register, by e-mailing me at taberzz@xxxxxxx, by next
Wednesday evening.
The cold front expected early next week should produce a good surge of early
migrant birds. Last August at this time, a front provided Nashville and Cape
May warblers at Kiptopeke, among many other species. Usually, during odd years,
like this one, Red-breasted Nuthatches are found there at the end of August,
a preview of their fall flight.
Now that the rain has subsided a bit, butterflies should become abundant at
the tip of the Eastern Shore, too. We'll visit the butterfly gardens at
Kiptopeke State Park and Eastern Shore of VA National Wildlife Refuge.
