I wanted to thank all the birders who weighed in on identifying my mystery
bird. Initial responses were evenly split between blue grosbeak and indigo
bunting, but in the end, the majority of you folks concurred that is was a Blue
Grosbeak, probably female.
She came in as a tiny, naked hatchling, and matured into the beautiful bird you
saw in the photos. It was a privilege to give this bird a second chance at
life. And I'm glad to finally know what she is!
