It was a nice morning for a walk in Runnymede Park this morning. We hit a hot
spot along the eastern end of the meadow that added to our total.
Hereâs our list:
Red-shouldered Hawk
Eastern Bluebird
Carolina Chickadee
Tufted Titmouse
Downy Woodpecker
Red-bellied Woodpecker (heard)
American Redstartâmale and female
Common Yellowthroat
Magnolia Warblerâpossible
Chestnut-sided Warbler
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Red-eyed Vireo
Eastern Wood-Pewee
Mourning Dove
American Goldfinch
Ruby-throated Hummingbird
On Saturday, Sept. 12, we observed a Red-eyed Vireo doing what could be best
described as âsplash bathingâ in our small backyard pond. While perched in
the adjacent Myrtle Bush, the bird with swoop down, skim on the water, and
return to the bush to fluff its feathers. The bird did this a number of times.
Good birding to all,
