Hello all
Today I started the morning off by leading a field trip out to the Swoope area
& the Augusta Wetlands . I was joined by 4 club members & a friend of one the
members . It started off by some rain & cool winds . But by the end of the trip
it quit raining but remained cool . We ended the walk with 50 species of birds
with the highlights listed below .
Wood Duck
Gadwall
Blue - winged Teal -- 15+
Osprey -- 1
Lesser Yellowlegs -- 1
Wilson Snipe
Blue - Gray Gnatcatcher
Ruby - crowned Kinglet
Savannah Sparrow
Vesper Sparrow
After dropping everyone off & did my usual pond checks & the high lights were
107 Ruddy Duck ( break down 81 in Stuarts Draft on a new found Lake , 17 at
McCune's & 9 Bells Lane --- new peak count )& on Bells Lane there was one
Forster's Tern .
All in all good friends & a wonderful day of birding in Augusta County .
