Hello all,
After reading previous posts, we realized we did not have all the
Dark-eyed Juncos in Northern Virginia in our back yard during
yesterday's snow storm. While ours don't get on the feeders, we have
noticed them cleaning up under the Niger Thistle feeders. They were
joined by many other species, including 10 or more American
Goldfinches. We haven't seen many of the latter in the yard for
several weeks.
The surprise arrival was a BROWN HEADED COWBIRD, otherwise nothing
out of the ordinary--just a lot of hungry birds.
We had just one Cowbird yesterday, and a small mixed flock this morning.
Good birding to all,
