Despite drizzle with bouts of moderately heavy rain, 10 birders joined me
for the Northern Virginia Bird Club sponsored bird walk along the Hike-Bike
Trail at Huntley Meadows. We had a nice assortment of warblers consisting
of 8 species, with a Blackburnian near the maintenance building perhaps the
best find. Swainson's Thrushes and Gray Catbirds are pushing through in
nice numbers and a small "flock" of basic-plumaged Scarlet Tanagers was a
pleasant sight. The most interesting observation was an Indigo Bunting in
the Main Meadow (aka Woodcock Meadow) still feeding fledged young. The
list of birds seen during this wet, but still enjoyable walk are listed
