Yesterday morning from around 0700 to 1300, Nick Flanders, Lee Bristow, and I
visited the Blackwater Ecologic Preserve just west of Windsor, VA. It was a
very nice day to be outside. Weather was clear with temperatures starting in
the 50's and ending in the lower 70's, I suspect.
Warbler species included Common Yellowthroat, Pine Warbler, Yellow-rumped
Warbler, Black-and-white Warbler, Northern Parula, Yellow-throated Warbler,
Ovenbird, and Louisiana Waterthrush. The Yellow-throated Warbler only sang
once, which was a little frustrating. The waterthrushes seemed to still be
practicing their singing. Hermit Thrushes were singing a little, and I believe
there was either a Wild Turkey gobbling or else a fox was calling at one point.
There were quite a few Blue-gray Gnatcatchers about and seem to have already
paired up.
