Hello birders,
Sorry for the late report. Yesterday morning, approx. 12 birders braved the
chilly winds to find any birds doing the same thing at Blandy State
Arboretum. The walk, led by Andy Rabin, was sponsored by the Loudoun
Wildlife Conservancy. Activity was decent, although we found mainly
late-winter birds (8 species, including a few Pine Siskins), with a couple
first-of-spring Chipping Sparrows. A highlight for all was wonderful views
and photo ops of a first-year Red-tailed Hawk, ignoring the group of lookers
at the base of his pine tree of choice and primping and striking pose after
pose before soaring away. The list of 45 species follows.
