While checking the status of a Bald Eagle nest today, we found our 1st Blue
Grosbeak for the year (and our 1st for that county).
Unfortunately, the BAEA nest was empty. This is the 2nd year that this nest
has failed, even though it was successful in 2 previous years (long story).
Earlier, we came across more Bobolinks in Frederick Co, just NW of
Middletown (a place we've had them before, but not breeding).
In Shenandoah Co, we checked a known spot for Red-headed WP - 3 adults were
busily feeding and flying back and forth in the woodlot. We're sure there
may be 6-10 of them in the area.
