This morning's survey along the Hike-Bike Trail indicated that Blue Grosbeaks
had a successful breeding season in the meadows at the King's Highway side of
Huntley Meadows (Fairfax County). An adult male tended to two recently fledged
youngsters in the first meadow while a begging youngster pursued dad around in
search of a meal at the main opening to the Main Meadow. A third male grosbeak
was in song at the platform overlooking the Central Wetland.  A fledged
Yellow-breasted Chat provided evidence of at least one successful chat nesting
attempt in the Main Meadow. I also oberved several Indigo Bunting family groups.
