Greetings to all:
This morning before the heat from the midday sun warmed things up, I made a
trip to Runt Powell's farm on Wolf Trap Rd in Halifax
Co. to look for Mississippi Kites and within 10 minutes spotted two off in
the distance soaring around. I also saw a Red-tailed Hawk and at one time
had all three in view at one time.
I also went down to check on the White Ibis at Staunton River State Park on
July 27th and found them and also saw an immature Little Blue Heron.
It was just too hot to stay long and check out all the shorebirds but I did
manage to find the following: Lesser Yellowlegs, Pectorial Sandpipers,
Spotted Sandpipers, Least Sandpiper, Short-billed dowitcher and one Caspian
Tern.
