An addendum to Laura's post. Today, 1/7/04, at 9:15, I also saw 20
Brewer's Blackbirds at this farm. There were a few Red-winged
Blackbirds, Starlings, and Brown-headed Cowbirds mixed in but the
Brewer's were that velvety black as always. Beautiful birds on a cold
winter morning!

My apologies for the late post....yesterday morning I stopped at the dairy
farm along Fleetwood Dr., just south of Aden Rd. in Nokesville, and saw at
least
20 Brewer's Blackbirds feeding near the barns where the cows were resting. If
you don't see the birds when you first arrive, don't give up! They flew off
to the fields behind the main pasture and remained hidden for a while.
**Important note** Please park in the paved lot at the church across the
road and not in the grassy lot at the old church. I was told by a church
committee member that birders caused $600 in damage to the grass last year.
Even if
the gates are locked across the road, there is enough room to park safely off
the road.
