On the nature walk this morning on the Cedar Creek Trail at Natural Bridge, we
started noticing several BROAD-WINGED HAWKS passing over. At one point a large
kettle of 2-300 birds appeared and headed south. Our total count for this
species was about 560. Not bad for just an hour of looking at the sky from the
bottom of a gorge!
As far as other birds went, we had one BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER, a worn adult GREEN
HERON, and a couple of RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS among the usuals. A nice
little mix of species.
