I spent the morning at Staunton River State Park. The first couple hours
were foggy and overcast, so I spent them searching for warblers. Everything
other than Pine was pretty scarce. I managed to find singles of Myrtle,
Wilson's, Palm (Western), Ovenbird, and Chat. Also had a waterthrush, but
couldn't make a positive id. Both Tanagers were present as well as many
female and juvenile Blue Grosbeaks and Indigo Buntings.
Once the fog began to burn off, I moved over to the shore to check the
mudflats for shorebirds and waders. Highlights were a single Buff-breasted
Sandpiper, 6 American Golden Plovers, 3 Wilson's Snipe, and 1 juvenile White
Ibis.
