Six birders joined the Northern Va Bird Club walk Wednesday at Burke Lake Park.
The fog finally lifted, but it remained grey and overcast throughout the
morning which limited thermals and raptor activity. Highlights of the walk
were the blue heron rookery on Vesper Island State Waterfowl Refuge in the
middle of the lake, a blue morph snow goose, the hermit thrush just off the
parking lot, and the four horned grebes.
