VA BIRDers,
Please accept my apologies for this late posting. Due to the extenuating
circumtances in preparing and participating in important local CBCs (Manassas
and Central Loudoun), I was unable to report that an adult California Gull was
observed at the PW landfill Friday, 12/26/03.
Continuing with the late theme, Dorothy Tella and I noted a couple of Wild
Turkeys on the Seneca CBC 12/21/03 near Springvale and Georgetown Pike (Great
Falls) as well as an E. Towhee. Nearer the Potomac River, we spotted an
American Tree Sparrow mixed in with Field Sparrows along the floodplain of the
Potomac near the terminus of Internpromontory Drive (NVRPA) - this location was
particularly rich in Swamp Sparrow but was a bit marshy. The TNC Fraser
Preserve netted several Brown Creepers and Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers.
