Thanks to Jeff Blalock, Fenton Day, John Fox, Adam D'Onofrio, Brian Taber,
Steve Ford, and Paul and Francine Buckley, we have increased the CBBT list
considerably, with two records of Eastern Wood-Pewee and single records of
Purple Gallinule, Sooty Shearwater, Red-shoulded Hawk, American White Pelican,
King Rail, Rusty Blackbird, Yellow Warbler, Red-headed Woodpecker, Dovekie,
Kentucky Warbler, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Blue-winged Warbler, and Black
Guillemot.
A group from Lynchburg (maybe including John and Thelma Dalmas?) saw an Eastern
Whip-poor-will on the CBBT in maybe the late 1970s, following the VSO
Chincoteague Weekend. Does anyone remember the date of that bird?
Tom Gwynn and Don Schwab found an American Tree Sparrow out on the CBBT about
15 years ago in March, and Don is digging for that date. Also, Chris Pague (now
living in Colorado) had a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher on the CBBT back in the
1970s, and he'll hopefully be able to find the date as well.
The total species count for the CBBT (not including Fisherman Island) is 318.
To the best of my reckoning, Northampton County has recorded a further 90
species, and Fisherman has records for about 35 of those.
