At about 4: 30 this afternoon I found an adult female Connecticut warbler
skulking, “as they do” in the tall grass in front of some bushes, by the second
bluebird box, next to the pond in the upper meadow at Riverbend Park.
I had gone looking for purple finches and such and so this was the last
thing I was expecting to find.
I had two short , but clear looks at the bird and then a lot of skulking in
the grass.
It had a VERY BRIGHT WHITE EYE-RING, greenish/yellowish back, and yellow
breast; no wing bars, no stripes or any kind of marks on the breast.
I immediately compared it with every photograph I could find on the Internet
of an adult female Connecticut warbler , and I’m sure that’s what the bird was.
What a treat.
