Last evening during sundowners on the deck, a catbird serenaded me for more
than 40 minutes with a
repertoire of amazing songs and calls. He moved from bush to shrub around the
deck and didn't stop for more
than a moment. His songs were interspersed with calls from a peewee family
group fly catching in the
yard and chittering from chimney swifts flying overhead.
Birding is pretty uneventful this time of year but if you are in the right
place at the right time, you
may be rewarded with a memorable event.
