Thank you to all of you that posted the information about the Chesapeake VA
Dickcissel. On Sat, 7/2 at 11:30am we had great looks at the bird singing in
the dead tree along Peach Rd. Also heard was the Northern Bobwhite (the 1st we
have heard this year). Also seen was an Eastern Kingbird, Eastern Bluebird,
Eastern Meadowlark, Barn Swallow and 2 American Kestrels (male and female).
The Kestrels were seen at the end of Peach Rd (across from the wetlands
mitigration site) perched on a metal structure. We do not often (OK - never)
see Kestrels in the area this time of year - was a nice surprise.
