Hello all,
Nineteen people showed up for the monthly walk jointly sponsored by The Bird
Feeder in Reston, Reston Association, and Audubon Society of Northern Virginia.
We birded the Bright Pond area located in North Reston.
Our unusual bird for the morning was a single Double-crested Cormorant flying
west.
We had good looks at Cooper's and Red-shouldered Hawks, Red-bellied, Downy, and
Hairy Woodpeckers as well as a goodly number of Northern Flickers.
Also:
Eastern Wood-Peewees
Red-eyed Vireo
White-breasted Nuthatches
Eastern Bluebirds
Cedar Waxwings (several groups)
The warbler sightings were a highlight for the newer birders in the group:
Tennessee
Northern Parula
Chestnut-sided
Magnolia
American Redstart (Male and Female)
and for some, a Common Yellowthroat
We also saw a number of the "usual suspects" including Chickadee, Titmouse,
American Robin, etc.
All in all, a great morning to be out looking for birds.
Good Birding,
Jay and Carol Hadlock
