A couple of days at Chincoteague resulted in the following list. Wednesday afternoon and yesterday were warm with sunny conditions and very light winds from the south. Over night the wind strengthened and switched to the North-east.

Highlights included a Golden Eagle spooking the Snow Geese and a single Cackling Goose with the geese. There were also reasonable numbers of waterfowl (there is SOME water in the Snow Goose Pool).
Clapper Rails were obvious at low tide with six being seen yesterday, often in the open.

Around the Woodland Trail, at least 18 Red-breasted Nuthatch were found, by far the most numerous bird!

Four Lesser Black-backed Gulls were on the beach but the increase in wind due to the approach of Noel turned the shore into a sand storm this morning. Out to sea, the waves became spectacular, many Gannet were seen and Scoter movement (Surf and Black) was much more numerous than yesterday.
