This morning after ice then snow covered the ground here in Buchanan County two
Rusty Blackbirds came in to our feeders among a large flock of Common Grackles
and Red-winged Blackbirds.
This cold winter must be taking a toll on the birds. A couple of days ago my
wife and I came upon a Turkey Vulture feeding on a dead snowman that had
succumbed to the cold.
