Hello all
After doing a transport at work this morning I noticed a dark bird among the
Mallards & Canadas . My first thought was Coot but after being up all night
&a Medical Transport to MCV , I decided to go home early , I doubled back
after leaving work to see what the bird was . It turned out to be a Common
Moorhen . Getting there Off of I 81 take exit 225 & head north on Rt. 262 at
top of hill Rt. 262 turns into Rt 254 east . Take Rt 254 E into the city
limits of Waynesboro . go less than a mile & you will see the large pond on
the left & the smaller one on the right . The bird will be up among the
cattails on the small right pond . Best to view & safe from cars is to pull
off the road on the other side where the big pond is . Do not block the turn
lane for that side ( pull off in the grassy area ) . There are guard rails
up along the road to prevent pulling off . Good luck.
