A Common Redpoll flew into the window of our house in the suburbs of
greater, downtown, Limeton, Virginia, yesterday, December 10th. Limeton
is located about six miles south of Front Royal along US Route 340. The
bird was only stunned, but the unconscious bird allowed a close scrutiny
of the details of the birds coloration. The black throat on the red head
was clear and made the bird easily recognizable.
Also, this morning, around 0600, several Barred Owls serenaded us from the
walnut tree next to our house.
