I am a visitor in Myrtle Beach this week, and yesterday I repeatedly heard a
hawk cry. I am at a beach resort on the 7th floor, so I walked out on the
balcony and saw the hawk sitting in a tree in the distance. It was large and
easy to spot with the dark head and contrasting pale underparts (with some
streaking).
I took several photos, but the distance really tasked my little camera and I'm
just not sure what it is. I've posted the photos, some of which I enlarged to
try to show more details. I took pictures until the hawk finally flew away, and
one shot is of the bird in flight.
