Hello Birders,
Richmond Audubon led a field trip to Craney Island in Portsmouth this
morning. Several independent groups of birders were also on site....good
thing.
Despite some difficult winds we managed some nice April birds. The
highlight was a male Common Teal found by Frank Fogarty, Jason Strickland
and Adam Bollinger in the NW corner. Also of note, was a flock of 30
American Avocets in the NW corner. Otherwise, there wasn't a load of
shorebirds but we managed 11 species. The female Common Merganser recently
and regularly reported on the W shore of the island was NOT refound by our
group.
