I visited Cub Run park (near Cub Run Recreation Center in western
Fairfax County) this morning, Thursday April 9th, covering about a
mile of mixed habitats. Everywhere I looked I found White-Throated
Sparrows - no sign of their diminishing numbers, at least where I was
this morning. They, and many others, were in full song. Also singing:
Rufous-Sided Towhee (2)
Brown Thrasher (1)
Field Sparrows
Eastern Phoebes
Song Sparrows
This was my FOS Thrasher. I got a good look, as well as hearing the 2-
repetition song pattern. I'll leave out the usual suspects -
Cardinal, Mockingbird, etc. At home in Oakton I had a flock of Cedar
Waxwings and some Chipping Sparrows.
