A beautiful morning but fairly quiet for birds at Cub Run woods,
adjacent to Cub Run Recreation Center in far western Fairfax County.
I had 22 species, with a lot of conspicuous "misses". Lots of Yellow-
Rumps, no other warbler species. Most notable were the winter "hanger-
ons":
8 PURPLE FINCH
1 YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER
5 DARK-EYED JUNCO
at least 30 WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS
The White-Throats, Towhees, and Thrashers were singing, as well as the
usual chorus of Cardinals, Wrens, Titmooses, etc.
