Finally heard a YB cuckoo at Huntley this morning (at least 2, in fact). It
will be interesting to see if they are just late, or if numbers are reduced
in the breeding season compared to previous years.
No passage migrants.
Butterflies (and assorted bugs) were more interesting. Still scores of
great spangled fritillaries and little wood-satyrs. Also a couple of
northern pearly-eyes (which I have only seen a couple of times before). The
unusual purple milkweed is just coming into bloom, mostly in the field to
the right of the platform at the end of the Hike/Bike Trail.
