It was a bit slow this morning at Dyke Marsh for the weekly Friends of Dyke
Marsh bird walk. These walks are free and open to all and are held every Sunday
at 8:00. The dearth of waterfowl continued with only four species of duck
present, but two Horned Grebes were nice to see. We also found an Eastern
Phoebe wagging its tail next to the Haul Road trail. Other than that, we did
see the usual Bald Eagles and couple of close-up Great Black-backed Gulls which
were posing on posts at the marina. Red-winged Blackbirds were also in the area
and were sitting up singing as they started to claim their territories.
