We surveyed the Dyke Marsh Haul Road and the path leading to the stone
bridge along the George Washington Parkway south of Alexandria today for the
Rusty Blackbird Blitz. We found 23 Rusty Blackbirds at the Haul Road dogleg
next to the marsh. Nick Nichols spotted a Northern Harrier hunting over the
marsh. A Greater Yellowlegs flew over the boardwalk at the end of the Haul
Road peninsula. We observed 4 Tree Swallows putting on a fancy aerial
display. The grebe bonanza continued with 2 Pied-billed Grebes, 3 Horned
Grebes, and 2 Red-necked Grebes.
