Despite a dreary, rainy, but surprisingly balmy day, 6 birders joined me for
the final edition of the 2007 Dyke Marsh Sunday Morning Bird walks, to resume 6
January after the Christmas Bird Count season is over. The day started with
great looks at an adult Red-shouldered Hawk that flew into the picnic area and
perched on a low branch of a Sycamore 20 feet in front of us. Waterfowl
diversity was disappointing, but there are more Coots present now than I have
seen for several years. The highlight was the observation of 2 Pine Siskins
foraging with American Goldfinches along the road leading to the marina.
