Five birders joined me for the Sunday morning Dyke Marsh bird walk plus
several other birders we met looking for the Western Flycatcher. The Western
was not there, but consolation flycatchers consisted of two Eastern
Flycatchers, two Eastern Wood-Pewees, and an Eastern Phoebe. Caspian and
Forster's Terns continue their migration down the Potomac. Warblers were
sparse, but we did locate Black-and-white, Palm, and Black-throated Green
Warblers, and American Redstart. A Red-winged Blackbird was still feeding
fledged young.
The walk is held every Sunday at 8:00 AM except during the Christmas Bird
Count season and we meet by the river in the picnic area.
