After getting a haircut in the Belle Haven area this afternoon, I stopped by
the picnic area/marina. I did not venture down the Haul Road. The Tundra
Swan is still present, today hanging out on the sand bar with the gulls and
terns. FOS ducks for me included 10 Ruddy and 3 Gadwall. I found 8
Pie-billed Grebes and 11 Am. Coots. Terns were quite active, especially
Forsters with a few Caspian. A lingering Spotted Sandpiper (sans spots)
landed right in front of me and posed nicely. 3 adult Bald Eagles were
chasing each other and stirring up the gulls and waterfowl. It was a
beautiful day to be outdoors. Looking forward to Huntley Meadows hike/bike
trail tomorrow morning.
