Five birders joined me today for a fairly hot and muggy edition of the Sunday
morning Dyke Marsh Walk, sponsored by the Friends of Dyke Marsh and open to
everyone. I want to thank Sherm Suter for helping me keep the numbers. Not many
passerine migrants today, with the possible exception of Blue Jays and Robins.
Highlight non-passerines consisted of quite a number of Forster's Terns and a
flyby Yellow-billed Cuckoo. Ospreys have seem to have bailed; we only found
two. A Sharp-shinned Hawk cruised over the wooded area, no doubt in search of
a small songbird meal. We had trouble finding the sonbirds. Perhaps the Sharpie
faired a little better.
