Please join us at the Northern Virginia Bird Club meeting on September 17, 2008 for a program called Birds of High Altitudes and Latitudes:

Birders flock to the tropics, for that is where many of the world's birds live. The birds of the mountains and ice may not be as numerous, but many of them are restricted-range birds that are of conservation concern. Daphne Gemmill, founder of BigPockets and former American Birding Association Board member, has traveled to Tibet, known as the Roof of the World, and to Antarctica and to other mountainous and high latitude places in search of these special birds. Through slides, she will discuss the joys and challenges of visiting these remote places and the special birds that live there.

The meeting will be at the Church of the Covenant, 2666 Military Road, Arlington, VA. There will also be refreshments and door prizes. For more directions and other details go to:

We also have a number of field trips coming up, where everyone is also welcome. You can check those out by clicking on our newsletter, "The Siskin"' from the website at www.nvabc.org
