Paul Glass and I were still on the shore yesterday and we concentrated on field
birds, "wire" birds, shorebirds and water birds. Nothing out of the ordinary
was found but we did come across a field full of BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS and
DUNLIN that also held 2 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS. The flock was located on
route 600 (Seaside Rd.) just south of Indiantown Rd. We also enjoyed assorted
waterfowl at the wetlands at Eyre Hall which included plenty of GADWALL and
smaller numbers of AMERICAN WIGEON, AMERICAN COOTS, WOOD DUCKS, RUDDY DUCKS and
GREEN-WINGED TEAL. At the end of the day we checked the pond on Ramp Rd. at
ESVNWR and we had about 46 WHITE IBIS comprised mostly of first year birds. It
was a good way to end a great weekend, albeit a chilly one, on the shore. Good
birding.
