Hello all
On Friday( 4 - 17 ) morning 6 members of the Augusta Bird Club headed for a
weekend of birding . our first stop was in Newport News to see the Monk
Parakeet's on Rexford Dr. As soon as we pulled up we were rewarded with at
least 4 birds . After watching & getting a few photos we were off to the first
Island of the CBBT & the Eastern Shore . When we finished up on Sunday
afternoon we had tallied 123 species of birds for the weekend . On Saturday our
group had two more members for the day totaling 8 . Below is a list of the
highlights of what was seen for the 3 days .
Snow Goose -- one on Saturday maybe injuried
Brant
Eurasian Wigeon -- 1 on Saturday snow goose pool mixed in with Am. Wigeon
Surf Scoter -- many still in bay north end of CBBT
Long - tailed Duck -- 2 Island 1 -- friday
Had all Egrets & Herons except Yellow - crowned Night Heron
Black - necked Stilt -- 4 -- causway Chincoteague 4 - 19
E. Collared Dove -- Magotha Rd. Friday
Sedge Wren -- Saturday -- pony pasture across from Black Duck pond
Marsh Wren -- Saxis Sunday morning
Saltmarsh Sharp - tailed Sparrow -- Toms Cove area Sunday morning
Seaside Sparrow -- Saxis Sunday morning
Any way we all had a good time ( good friends , good food & good birds . )
