It has been pointed out by several people since my posting that Starlings are
very good imitators of Pewees - of lots of things, I've noticed, but that hadn't
occurred to me, and I didn't know the timing for a Pewee. Several of you have
mentioned May really being the time for their return, so I will have to concede
that it was likely a Starling doing a very good imitation, since I didn't
actually see the bird. He has clearly been practicing, though!
