Hi Fellow SMAS Board members,
Today at 5:00 pm I am leading a group of people to hopefully see the flock
of Wood Storks that have been hanging out at Caledon Natural Area in King
George , VA, just 10 mins from the Gov. Harry Nice Bridge.
If you are interested in joining us please reply to me at
raptorsrule@xxxxxxxx by noon today. We are meeting at 5pm in La Plata at the
shopping center at the intersection or Routes 301 & 6 near the Dollar Store.
We will car pool to the park.
There is a bridge toll and there is a $3 per car entry fee to the park as
well. We will be going to a part of the park that is not open to the public
at this time of year and will be traveling by a hay wagon with hay bale
seating, If you don't reply by noon call me on my cell phone at
240-765-5192 or even better send me a text message. Texts get better
reception in Nanjemoy where I work, The wagon can only hold 22 people.
There were 11 storks there on Saturday evening at the same time and
occasionally they flew just over the Potomac a few feet making them a
Charles County sighting. Hopefully they are still around!
