Had a very nice 2 hours at the Elklick woods off Pleasant Valley Drive in far western Fairfax County this morning, Thursday May 6th.

Highlights:

1) 3 turtles crossing the dirt road - I always see them here in the spring, much more than other locations
2) Several each singing Redstarts and Prairie Warblers, plus everyone else singing and calling as well.
3) Best ever sightings of Wild Turkeys: 2 toms displaying their tails to a group of 6-8 others; and later I flushed a very large turkey from just 12-15 feet away. Lucky circumstances allowed me to get that close.
