While I was whacking invasive plants along the Long Branch Nature Center
access road between Willow near the parking lot, I heard a faint call and
then spotted my first Eastern Phoebe of the season nearby. A second one
appeared shortly after, and they seemed to hang out near me for at least a
half hour while I worked. It was cold, about 40F, but they perched on
various branches and made a few quick fly-catching type sorties. Very nice
