It seems really early but I had two indigo buntings singing their typical
mixture of paired metallic and musical notes here in north Blacksburg this
morning. The notes were definitely paired and there were a number of
goldfinches in the area singing their even longer, more variable song, which
provided good contrast. The indigo buntings were singing at the edge of a
brushy field where I typically hear/see them during the breeding season.
