Three members of the NVBC joined this morning's walk at Huntley Meadows.
Despite the forecast we were not rained on, the foliage was as bright as I
have ever seen at Huntley and the birds were very active at least for an
hour or so. Near the visitor's center we had at least 6 red-breasted
nuthatches and the surrounding area was alive with chickadees, goldfinches,
house finches and yellow-rumped warblers. Near the beginning of the
boardwalk we found a winter wren (my FOS) and large numbers of sparrows.
Further along was a palm warbler in the marsh and still further we found a
pair of savannah sparrows. A complete list follows.
