Hello VA-Birders,
I have had a truly wonderful time birding these past few years in Virginia and
surrounding environs. I have especially enjoyed getting to know most of the
people I came into contact with, and learning from you as I expand my knowledge
of our avian friends. Now my career takes me to points west, and I wanted to
thank everyone for your insights and companionship while I was in Virginia. In
a few weeks my family and I will be packing our bags with fond memories of
Virginia and everything it has to offer. It’s a great place with a lot of even
greater people, and one day we look forward to possibly returning.
After some family obligations, I returned to the field late this afternoon and
covered as much as I could of Great Falls Park for the Fairfax Co Spring Count.
The best birds were drake and hen COMMON MERGANSERS at the north end of the
park, and many ORIOLES of both types. The list for Great Falls is below.
Thanks Everyone!
