The first chipping sparrow of the year is at the feeder! A bird that I have
had over winter here in the past, and was sorely missing. Towhees have been
appearing sporadically through fall and winter, we have a nesting pair
in/around our yard every year.
There are also clear plumage changes occurring- our derth of house sparrows
are developing larger bibs and the white field around the bin is getting
brighter and clearer. I also saw a male house finch in full breeding
plummage at the feeder.
Pair that with over a dozen cowbirds and spring has most definately sprung!
Best birding to all!
