Article in National Geographic online.

Flight feathers harvested from previous snowy owl patients at the Raptor
Center
at the University of Minnesota were grafted to the DC Snowy using bamboo
splints
and epoxy cement.

The DC Snowy is now reported as likely a two year old male, but the bird
has yet
to be probed for confirmation of sex to avoid stressing the bird.
