A chestnut-sided being chased by a female ruby-throated and a magnolia were
the first warblers I've seen this fall in White Oaks Park in Fairfax County.
Pewees and Acadian are still singing. I've also had good views of the resident
barred owls and the immature Coops recently. Migrant, singing red-eyed
vireos have been around for at least a week.
Sunday I had a picnic lunch with my 5-yr-old at Huntley. I don't think I've
ever heard or seen fewer birds, probably a total of 30 birds of 20 species.
The only bird of note was a singing white-eyed vireo by the tower.
